The Power of Kindness

What happen when people showed so much more kindness
to others then they seem to do today, I don't believe the
majority of the people are less kind its just our society is way
too fast paced and everyone is in a hurry to get things done.
No wonder so many people are divorced today and the  worse
part about it is we are often in such a hurry to earn more money
or/and make things better for our families, I did find some
motivational goodies for you today. I think we all need to find a
way to slow down and enjoy life while we can, before we know it
we are either elderly and alone or down with some illness. I do
apologize if I got you feeling a bit down about now,but I have faith
my post today will cheer you up and hopefully get you thinking about
being kinder and finding time to spend with the ones you love before
its too late.

Dr Howard Kelly

The year was 1863, on a spring day in Northern Pennsylvania.
A poor boy was selling goods door to door to pay his way through
school. He realized he had only a dime left, and that he was hungry.
So he decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However,
he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.

Instead of a meal, he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked
hungry and so she brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly,
and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"     The Power of Kindness
"You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to
accept pay for a kindness." He said, "Then I thank you from my heart."
As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but
his faith in God and man was strengthened also. He had been ready to give
up and quit.

Years later, that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled.
They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her
rare disease.

Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of
the town she came from, he went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed
in his doctor's gown, he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back
to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day,
he gave special attention to the case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested from the business office
to pass the final billing to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on
the edge, and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it
would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally, she looked, and something
caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words:

"PAID IN FULL WITH ONE GLASS OF MILK..."

Something For You Gardeners

Well its suppose to be spring in Pennsylvania about now,
but we still are getting snow and cold weather. There has
been snow on the ground again this week, talk about depressing.

When most people think of spring flowers they think mostly of
Tulips and Daffodils, but believe it or not the Primula is a very
vivid spring perenial flower. You might know this little beauty
as the Primrose, they come in blooms of bold yellows, reds, pinks
and blues. The primroses are low, ground covering with green
leaves which bloom for weeks in the late spring or early summer,
grow best in zones 3-9, partial shade and can tolerate some sun
but most varieties do best in partial shade.

When mature size 6 inches to 30 inches in height and 8 inches to
30 inches in diameter, bloom early to mid spring depending on the
variety and geographic location.

Primroses brighten almost any shady location, many people plant them
under trees or in rock gardens, primroses prefer the north side of a house
and as ground cover under shrubs.

Primroses being spring bloomers favor moist and shady planting sites,
primroses love slightly acid soil. They often do well planted under such
plants which product acidic soil, primroses will require shade and water
during the heat of summer.

Primroses generally are pest free plants, primroses are prone to leaf spot
disease which appears as brown spots on yellowing leaves of the plants.
Most gardeners prefer to purchase the plants when in bloom, with so many
flower colors and varieties your never sure what your getting when you
purchase them before they are blooming.

If you have a nice shady corner under some foundation plants preferable acid
producing you should really give primroses a try,I am sure you will fall in love
with their petite but brilliant blooms this year.

I am attempting to experiment somewhat with my posts at this time to see what
my readers prefer the most, so if you wish to give me any feedback as always I
would appreciate knowing what you enjoy the most.
